Mother of Night is made for work done in darkness. It's traditionally used for night rituals, dream work, psychic protection, mystery work and dark moon devotion, and for the plain, necessary magic of rest and calm.
In Hesiod's Theogony, Nyx is one of the first beings to emerge from Chaos, long before the Olympians. She is mother to Day and bright Aether, and alone she bears Sleep, Death, the tribe of Dreams, the Fates and Nemesis. In Homer's Iliad, even Zeus holds back his anger rather than displease swift Night.

Dress a candle. Anoint a black or deep blue candle and burn it after sunset, or on the dark moon, for mystery work and devotion to Nyx.
Dream work. After a patch test, touch a drop to your temples or wrists before sleep, and keep a journal by the bed.
Protection. Dress a petition or the corners of a window frame to keep your nights and your mind your own.
Altars and bags. Anoint a star, veil or night-sky image as an offering, or feed a dream pillow or protection bag.
Bath. Blend a few drops into a carrier oil or a cup of salt first. Never add it straight to the water.

It opens with green herbs and a cool purple softness, like a garden after dusk. It softens into velvety florals with a powdery, skin-soft hush. It settles into deep woods, dark resin and earthy depth that lingers like the last hour before dawn.
