Cut and dried lemongrass, the herb at the heart of Van Van, one of the oldest formulas in Southern conjure. It's the root worker's go-to for clearing what's in the way and getting things moving.
-
In conjure, lemongrass is worked for road opening, cleansing and uncrossing, and for clearing out stale luck so the new can come in. The classic Western correspondences give it to Mercury and the element of Air, and add psychic powers to its uses.
-
Add it to a floor wash, especially at the doorway and front steps, or to a ritual bath to clear the road. Dress an orange or white candle for road opening, or burn a pinch on charcoal as loose incense before divination. You can also tuck it into a mojo bag or spell jar, or lay it over a petition when you need a door to open.
-
Cut straw-green to pale yellow-green blades, dry and fibrous, with a bright, clean lemon scent. Available in 1/2 oz and 1 oz, hand-packed in kraft pouches. Ritual use only: not for eating, drinking or smoking.
