Keys of Hekate is made for the in-between places: crossroads, thresholds and decisions that can't be put off. It's traditionally used for choosing your path, crossroads work, spirit work, dark moon devotion and protecting your home and your practice.
In Hesiod's Theogony, Hekate is honored by Zeus above all others and given a share of earth, sea and starry sky. In the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, she hears Persephone's cry, meets Demeter with torches in hand and becomes Persephone's companion in the underworld. In ancient Athens, meals called Hekate's Deipnon were left at crossroads at the end of each lunar month, a tradition many practitioners keep today.
-
Hekate's Deipnon. On the dark moon, dress a candle for Hekate and set it with your offering on your altar or at a three-way crossroads.
Crossroads and decisions. Dress a candle and a petition naming the choice in front of you, and ask for her torchlight to show the way.
Threshold protection. Touch a drop to your front door, doorframe and house keys to guard what comes and goes.
Spirit work. After a patch test, anoint your wrists or brow before divination, necromantic work or any time you cross into liminal space.
Bath. Blend a few drops into a carrier oil or a cup of salt first. Never add it straight to the water.

It opens with deep woods and a flash of bright citrus, cool and clear like night air at a crossroads. It softens into green herbs with a soft floral edge. It settles into dark resin and deep woods, with an earthy depth that feels like a doorway just before it opens.
